The trail rides are getting interesting!

Week five of camp is underway and part of camp is our daily trail rides.  Our beginner riders are led on a short pony trail, while the older and more experienced campers get to enjoy a longer trail ride.  We also offer guided trail rides to individuals throughout the year.  For more info on our trail rides, click here. Last week we saw deer on the trail every day.  It appears that there are several new fawns in the bunch and the herds are staying close to the same area.  It’s beautiful to see the deer bounding through the woods ahead of you, but not as much fun when they jump right in front of you and startle the horses!  As they spooked a couple of horses last week, we are trying to be very noisy so that when we do see them, it is at a distance!  Today, we didn’t see any deer, but we did see signs that wild pigs have returned to our park.  About two years ago, we would see pigs on nearly every trail ride, but the drought drove them out of this area.  It looks like the recent rains have brought them back.  We’ll look forward to seeing the pigs again in the near future.  They don’t spook the horses as much because they don’t spring on us out of nowhere!
